Travel Life

We have been fortunate enough to have had some lovely holidays in some wonderful countries, and I just want to share a few of the memories we both have. I really wish that digital cameras had been around for our earlier holidays in Bali, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka etc. Maybe one day I will scan some of the prints and put them on this site.

Jamaica

Negril

Without doubt, one of our all time favourites. Jamaica had been on Lea's 'bucket list' for a long time, and came in between the weddings of our two sons and before our move down to Cornwall.......2019 was certainly a year to remember!! We stayed in the Couples Hotel, and would thoroughly recommend this establishment to anyone. The service and the friendliness of the staff was outstanding, and the food, whether from the buffet or a la carte was wonderful. Nearly every morning we would walk a mile or two along the sandy beach, before going for a swim in the crystal clear sea. Hopefully, we will return there one day!

Italy

Viareggio

Viareggio is a seaside town in Tuscany, where the pace of life drops to a near standby. The beaches can get very busy, but the bigger hotels have their own stretch of reserved sunbeds,so never a problem. A good base to travel to Florence, Pisa etc.. Great food and wine. We stayed at the Grand Hotel, and while it did look grand from the outside, the rooms were quite small and basic.......quite common in Italy. The food though was very good and the lack of amenities did not stop us from having a wonderful time.

Mexico

Riviera Cancun

This was our first 'really chilled' holiday. We would leave our swim up suite straight into the lazy river pool and float aimlessly around while drinking cocktails. Then maybe hit the beach while deciding which restaurant to go to....bliss!! We had provisionally planned to go on several trips, but the hotel and grounds were so nice, we hardly ventured out. The hotel was part of the Excellence Group and very aptly named......I would be very hard pressed to find any faults here.

Nevada

Las Vegas

This was our 4th holiday in Vegas, and my personal favourite, because for 10 days both our sons joined us out there. We had some fabulous meals, the highlights for me being the Chinese Chicken, the 'melt-in-your-mouth' fillet steak and the unforgettable Wagyu burgers. Great times!!

Lanzarote

Los Pocillos

This was our first December holiday abroad, and as we didn't fly home until three days before Christmas, it took away the 'end of holiday blues', as we had the festive period to look forward to. We will definitely do the same again sometime!. We stayed at a hotel called Seaside Las Jameos, and choose this hotel because of the good reviews it received on TripAdvisor. and the high number of repeat guests it got.. We are very glad we did,, because for an all inclusive, the food was the best we have tasted., and along with the evening entertainment, both in the hotel and the local bars, plus two weeks of sunshine in December, a great time was had by all.

Marbella

Puerto Banus

We chose this mini-break on the spur of the moment back in March 2008. A colleague of mine had a flat in Marbella , and always spoke highly of the area..... so when we were offered a chance to try a new complex in Puerto Banus at a bargain price, we jumped at the chance. It was lovely to spend time with Steven and Russell, and we hired a car for the time we were there, enabling us to visit the wonderful places surrounding Marbella.
